Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange indices were down on Sunday, pressured by selling activity among institutional traders. The main index fell by as much as 0.93% or 63.5 points to close at 6,749 points.
A number of leading stocks moved lower, led by heaviest weight CIB that shed 2.39% to EGP 35.8, with a traded value reaching EGP 20.88 million.
National traders were net buyers by EGP 21.8 million, while Arab and foreign traders were net sellers by EGP 13.9 million and EGP 7.8 million respectively.
Market capitalisation decreased by EGP 1.3 billion ($170.8 million) to reach EGP 424.7 billion, compared with EGP 426.01 billion on Thursday.
EGX70, which measures small and mid-cap stocks, lost 0.02% to reach 371.6 points, while the broader index EGX100 ended 0.01% lower at 769.5 points. Equal weighted index EGX50 fell by 0.10% to 1,173 points.
Sunday’s turnover amounted to EGP 407 million. 60 stocks moved higher, 69 others moved lower and 35 remained unchanged.
Losing stocks were led by Delta Insurance, Pachin, Prime Holding, LIFT SLAB and El Kahera El Watania. Meanwhile, gaining stocks were topped by National Maize, Arabia Investments, Rowad Tourism, Egyfert and HADISOLB.
