EGX starts Monday higher on Arab, foreign buying

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) opened Monday in the green, backed by Arab and non-Arab buying.

By 10:23 am Cairo time, the main EGX30 index jumped 48.91 points, or 0.25%, to 17,319.75 points.

The EGX70 index inched up 0.25% to 890.84 points, while the EGX100 index rose 0.28% to 2,279 points.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index grew 0.84% to 2,897 points.

The EGX’s trading volume reached 74.1 million shares changed hands through 4,300 transactions, with a turnover of EGP 210.3 million.

Egyptian investors were net sellers with EGP 29 million, while foreign and Arab traders were net buyers with EGP 14.7 million and EGP 14.3 million, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank’s (CIB) stock shed 0.06% to EGP 90.75, with a liquidity of EGP 2.8 million.

Talaat Moustafa Group Holding’s (TMG Holding) stock led losers with 2.03%, followed by Elsewedy Electric’s stock with 1.4%.

On the positive side, Elsewedy Electric’s stock topped gainers with 6.68%, followed by Egyptian Resorts Co’s stock with 4.73%, and Heliopolis Company for Housing and Development’s stock with 4.11%.
