EGX starts Wednesday on mixed note

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) started Wednesday with a mixed performance, amid purchases by foreign and Arab traders, and selling by Egyptian investors.

By 10:22 am Cairo time, the benchmark EGX 30 index inched up 10.12 points, or 0.07%, to 12,634.12 points.

On the other hand, the EGX 70 index fell 0.2%, reaching 664.03 points, while the EGX 100 index shed 0.17%, to 1,647.35 points, and the equal-weighted EGX 50 index levelled down 0.36%, reaching 2,075 points.

The EGX’s trading volume saw 9.05 million shares exchanged, through 1,200 transactions, generating EGP 32.3 million.

Egyptian traders were net sellers with EGP 2.8 million, while foreign and Arab investors were net buyers with EGP 1.3 million, and EGP 1.5 million, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank’s (CIB) stock, rose 1.38% to EGP 71.48, with a turnover of EGP 2.3 million.
