Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) is planning to diversify investment options for all investors over the coming period through providing and activating further financial instruments, EGX chairman Mohamed Farid said on Wednesday.
The EGX is targeting three main factors, including attracting new listings, developing fresh financial instruments, and extending communications with local and international institutions, Farid highlighted.
The EGX is seeking to boost both securities market’s efficiency and trading volumes by acquainting investors with investment and financing opportunities of the Egyptian stock market, he mentioned.
Low awareness of the EGX's investment opportunities has adversely impacted the limited number of listed-firms, as well as reduced trading volumes and the number of traders, he continued.
Farid previously stated that listings on the EGX have soared by 162% in 2017 at a total value of EGP 2.5 billion, luring about 1,150 foreign investors.
