EGX30 closes 1.85% lower, hits 40-day low

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) extended its downward trend for the fourth day in a row as the benchmark EGX30 declined 1.85% or 236.3 points to the level of 12,503.73 points.

The EGX70 index fell 0.84% to 510.24 points, the EGX100 index slid 1.22% to 1,216.38 points and the EGX50 index slipped 1.02% to 1,927.15 points.

The market capitalisation shrank about EGP 8 billion to EGP 613.76 billion.

Trading volume reached 208.1 million shares exchanged at EGP 1.06 billion.

Net sales by local investors amounted to EGP 26.1 million, while Arab and foreign investors were net buyers by EGP 23.8 million and EGP 2.3 million respectively.

CIB retreated 3.8% to EGP 75, with a turnover of EGP 139.7 million.

EFG Hermes declined 2.87% to EGP 22.33, with a turnover of EGP 118.9 million.

Global Telecom fell 1.34% to EGP 7.35, with a trading value of EGP 88.6 million.
