EGX30 down 1%, market cap loses EGP7bn

Cairo - Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) saw a positive performance on Monday, as the main index recorded its worst losses in nearly a month.

The benchmark index EGX30 fell 1.03%, losing 147.24 points, and closed at the level of 14,123.31 points.

Commercial International Bank - Egypt (CIB), the stock with the heaviest weight in the main index went down by 1.66% to EGP 76.05.

Meanwhile, the market capital reached EGP 779.11 billion, losing EGP 7 billion.

EGX70 declined by 1.3% to 767.70 points, and the broader index EGX100 slipped 0.88%, closing at 1,743.70 points.

Similarly, the equal-weighted index EGX50 dropped 1.27%, and closed at 2,467 points.

Foreign investors leaned towards selling with a net EGP 40.1 million, while Arab and Egyptian investors were net buyers at EGP 22.6 million and EGP 17.5 million, respectively.

Traded volumes reached 251.4 million shares, with a total turnover of EGP 786.6 million, through around 24,700 transactions.
