Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange ended mid-week trading session on a mixed note after its indices collectively initiated the day in the green territory.
Powered by blue-chip stocks, the benchmark added 80.96 points, or 1.07%, to close at 7,657.98 points.
CIB, the largest constituent on EGX, rose 1.49%. Likewise, EFG-Hermes, Global Telecom, Talaat Moustafa Group, Telecom Egypt, and Heliopolis Company for Housing and Development also saw a rise ranging from 0.4% to 2.2%.
The total market value gained EGP1.9 billion ($191.1 million) and finished the session at EFP409.17 billion against EGP407.47 billion on Monday.
Reversing early gains, the small and mid-cap fell by 0.19% to 366.25 points. Similarly, the broader index ended 0.29% lower to 789.35 points.
Meanwhile, the equal-weighted index EGX50 rose by 0.48% to 1,440.74 points.
With 366.5 million changing hands, trading value reached EGP1.1 billion. In addition, The bourse saw 69 stocks move down, 68 move up, and 41 stay at their previous levels.
Nationals were net buyers by EGP14.4 million, while Arab and foreign investors were net sellers by EGP2.1 million and EGP12.3 million respectively.
