EGX30 nears 13,000 pts at Sunday's open

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange's (EGX) benchmark EGX30 index opened Sunday's trades in the green, edging up 0.07% and reaching 12,999.68 points.

By 10:50am Cairo time, the EGX70 and EGX100 indices grew 0.18% and 0.24% to 570.74 points and 1,330.98 points, respectively.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index gained 0.34% to 2,078.03 points.

In the meantime, turnover reached EGP 94 million after 23 million shares changed hands through 3,900 transactions.

Trans Ocean Tours led risers, surging 20% followed by Raya Holding with 9.99% and Portland Cement, South Cairo and Giza Flour Mills and Bakeries with 9.97% and 9.74%, respectively.

On the other hand, Rubex for Plastic, Porto Group, Cairo Housing, Sinai Cement, and GMC retreated between 3.97% and 3.33%.

The EGX's heavyweight Commercial International Bank – Egypt (CIB) slipped 0.04% to EGP 75.5.

Egyptian investors were net buyers with EGP 5.9 million, while Arab and foreign investors were net sellers with EGP 451,000 and EGP 5.5 million, respectively.

Earlier today, analysts told Mubasher that the EGX was likely to see a sideways-to-rising performance on Sunday with the benchmark index testing the level of 13,000 points.

The EGX closed Thursday, the last trading session in March, at a slight rise with the EGX30 adding 0.06% or 7.15 points to 12,994.8 points.
