EGX30 opens lower on blue-chip stocks

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange opened mid-week trading session on a mixed note.

By 10:30am Cairo time, the main index EGX30 fell by 0.3% to 7,620 points on blue-chip stocks.

Orascom Telecom, EFG-Hermes, Telecom Egypt, Ezz Steel, SODIC, Egyptian Resorts, the Citadel saw a slide ranging from 0.10% to 1.4%.

The equal-weighted index EGX50 was 0.22% lower to 1,418 points. The small and mid-cap EGX70 declined by 0.31% to 371 points. The broader index EGX100 was 0.15 down to 784 points.

Trading value reached EGP33 million after 15 million shares were traded in 1,700 transactions.

Nationals and Arab investors were net sellers by EGP1.7 million and EGP474,000 respectively, while foreign investors were net buyers by EGP2.2 million.

Global Telecom was the most active stock in terms of value, registering EGP4.8 million with 1.7 million shares changing hands. Its quote was EGP2.77 at open.

The top losers were Egyptian Media Production City (-7.5%) and the National Company for Housing (-2.9%).

Meanwhile, Ajwa Group for Food, Beltone, and  Nozha International were the top advancers by 11%,7.8% and 7% respectively,

 Analysts expected The Egyptian exchange to initiate Tuesday’s trading session on a lower note, but to rise in the second half on the comeback of selective purchasing powers.
