EGX30 plunges 9.3% at Sunday’s close on foreign sell-offs

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Sunday’s trading session on a decline with its benchmark EGX30 index sliding by 9.34% to 10,148 points.

Likewise, the EGX70 EWI fell by 7.37% to 1,015 points, while the EGX100 index dropped by 7.09% to 1,089 points.

Earlier on Sunday, the bourse halted trading on the EGX100 for 30 minutes after decreasing by 5%.

Meanwhile, the EGX50 index went down by 8.26% to close at 1,425 points.

The market cap value plunged by EGP 39.6 billion to EGP 560.16 billion on Sunday from EGP 599.77 billion in the previous session on Wednesday.

The market’s trading volume amounted to 211.62 million securities exchanged at a turnover of EGP 4.88 billion through around 16,870 transactions.

Egyptian investors were net buyers with EGP 953.41 million, while Arab and foreign investors were net sellers with EGP 1.27 million and EGP 1.03 billion, respectively.
