EGX30 rises 0.5% at open

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange's benchmark index opened Sunday on a higher note after added 42 points, or 0.5%, to reach 7,410 points by 11:00am Cairo time.

The largest EGX30 constituent CIB saw a 2.5 rise to back the main index at open.

The small and mid-cap EGX70 edged up 0.07% to 353.5 points.

Meanwhile, the broader index EGX100 and the equal-weighted index EGX50 was lower 0.01% and 0.21%, respectively.

Egyptians were net sellers by EGP 5.5 million, while foreign and Arab traders were net buyers by EGP 4.9 million and EGP 550,000, correspondingly.

Trading value stood at EGP 148.5 million after 53 million shares were traded.

Out of 100 traded stocks, 19 went up; 41 moved down; and 40 remained unchanged.

MubasherTrade Research said the market's benchmark "managed to break above the downtrend that started in August 2016".

By breaking above the first resistance of 8,300, it is expected to rise towards 8,500, the research agency added.
