Cairo – Mubasher: EGX indices gave a mixed performance in Tuesday’s early trading.
By 10:25am Cairo time, the main index EGX30 rose 1.59% to 7,318 points.
Likewise, the broader index EGX100 moved up by 0.16% to 751 points and the equal-weighted index EGX50 was 0.53% higher to 1,302 points.
Meanwhile, the small and mid-cap index moved down by 0.04% to 352 points.
CIB, GTH, TE, SODIC, EFG-Hermes, TMG, and Pioneers saw a rise ranging from 5.6% to 1.5% by 10:25am Cairo time.
Nationals and foreign investors were net buyers by EGP 1.5 million and EGP 2.7 million respectively, while Arab investors were net sellers by EGP 4.2 million.
Out of 53 stocks traded, 26 ones went up; 6 ones moved down; and 21 stocks stayed at their previous levels.
Market turnover reached EGP 18 million after 12 million shares were traded.
Analysts expected EGX to continue its fluctuations along with a negative outlook in the short term, impacted by the Central Bank of Egypt’s (CBE) decision to raise interest rates.
Yesterday, the benchmark dropped 1.83%, or 134 points, to 7,203.64 points, its lowest level since mid-March.
