EGX30 shoots above 6,000 pts; market cap adds EGP 3bn

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange finished the first trading session this week in the green zone after the benchmark moved above the 6,000 barrier.

The benchmark EGX30 closed 1.26% higher at 6,156.01 points, gaining 76.88 points, and thus it is targeting the level of 6,260 points, said Waleed Helal, financial analyst, adding that the main index will move upwards if it bounces over 6,300 points

Likewise, the small and mid-cap index EGX70 edged 0.84% higher to 352.89 points. The broader index EGX100 edged up 0.90% to 726.22 points. The equal-weighted index EGX50 also jumped 1.63% to 1,149.9 points.

Market capitalisation roughly gained EGP 3 billion ($384.8 million), ending the session at EGP 392.7 billion against EGP 389.7 billion last session.

Trading value reached EGP 351 million after 189 million shares were traded.

Moreover, the bourse saw 109 stocks going up, 18 going down, and 29 staying at the same levels.

Nationals tended to buy with EGP 10.1 million, while foreign and Arab investors were net sellers by EGP 7.6 million and EGP 2.5 million respectively.

Tracking the stock movement, the best advancers were led by CIB (+0.94%), Talaat Moustafa Group Holding (+1.67%), Global Telecom (+4.55%), EFG-Hermes (+2.29%), and Palm Hills (+2.19%).

Meanwhile, the negative front was headed by Edita Food Industries (-2.69%), Orascom Construction (-0.36%) and Juhayna Food Industries (-0.30%).
