Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) extended its losses during Tuesday’s trading session.
The benchmark EGP30 index dropped by 582 points, or 4.24%, to close the mid-week session at 13,170 points.
Likewise, the small- and mid-cap EGP70 index retreated 3.36% to 483 points, while the broader EGP100 index fell by 3.07% to 1,293 points.
In the meantime, the equal-weighted EGX50 index declined by 3.8% to 1,852 points.
Turnover reached EGP 1.07 billion after 308 million shares were exchanged through around 29,220 transactions.
Egyptian and Arab investors were net buyers with EGP 747 million and EGP 29.4 million, respectively, while foreign investors were net sellers with EGP 776 million.
The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) plunged by 6.27% to EGP 71.05.
Meanwhile, Qalaa Holdings led decliners after sliding by 9.72%, followed by the Egyptian Iron and Steel and the Egyptian Chemical Industries (Kima) which fell by 6.72% and 6.56%, respectively.
Market capitalisation lost EGP 21.8 billion to close at EGP 672.28 billion on Tuesday.
