Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian bourse indices showed varied performance at the close of Thursday’s session.
The main benchmark EGX30 erased some losses to close at 5,713.35 points, shedding 1.09% or 63.24 points. The small and mid-cap indexEGX70 rose by 0.23% to 344.13.The broader index EGX100 also hiked by 0.06% at 6,92.3 points. Meanwhile, the equal weighted index EGX50 dropped by 0.05% to 1,042.37 points.
The market capitalisation shed EGP1.34 billion ($171 million), closing at EGP380.53 billion, compared with EGP381.86 billion yesterday.
Trading volume reached 454 million shares exchanged at a turnover reaching EGP500 million, while the total traded volume recorded 457 million shares worth EGP1.02 billion over 26 transactions.
Arab and Egyptians were net buyers by EGP49 million and EGP17.7 million respectively, while foreign investors were net sellers by EGX 66.7 million. In addition, retail traders tended to purchase and institutions moved to selling.
Today, 155 companies were traded, with 59 rising, 52 falling, and 44 remaining unchanged.
