EGX30 soars 317 pts Tuesday, market cap adds EGP 15.6bn

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Tuesday’s trading session up on the back of foreign buying.

The benchmark EGX30 index rose 2.23% or 317.04 points to the level of 14,537.03 points.

Market capitalisation gained EGP 15.6 billion and closed at EGP 812.43 billion, recording its highest level since 3 July 2008.

The small and mid-cap EGX70 index went up 2.58% to 802.19 points, while the broader EGX100 index added 2.26% to 1,859.43 points.

Likewise, the equal-weighted EGX50 index levelled up 2.07% to 2,533 points.

Trading volume stood at 382.3 million shares exchanged through 38,730 transactions at a turnover of EGP 1.68 million.

Foreign investors were net buyers with EGP 182.8 million, while Egyptian and Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 146.32 million and EGP 36.49 million, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) climbed 3.23% to EGP 74.76, with a turnover of EGP 135.8 million.

SODIC led Blue chips with a 5.93% growth, followed by Arabian Cement and Oriental Weaver which surged 5.18% and 3.73%, respectively.

On the other hand, Arabian Food Industries Co (Domty), Palm Hills, and Alexandria Mineral Oils Co (AMOC) fell 2.24$, 1.43$, and 0.9%, respectively.
