EGX30 stays high; market cap drops EGP205m

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange’s main index, or EGX30, ended Sunday on a higher note for the fifth session in a row, as it pared early gains to close 0.10% or 5.94 points higher at 5,992.72 points.

Market capitalisation dipped EGP205.2 million ($26.2 million), finishing the session at EGP391.1 billion, against EGP391.3 billion on last Thursday.

The small and mid-cap inex EGX70 rose by 0.15% to 356.39 points. Likewise, the broader index EGX100 increased by 0.10% to 715.62 points. Meanwhile, the equal-weighted index EGX50 declined by 0.19% to 1,096.95.

A total of 238.9 million shares were exchanged today at a turnover of EGP524.3 million, while the total trading value reached  EGP1.13 billion.

While nationals were net buyers by EGP46.3 million, foreign and Arab investors were net sellers by EGP7.9 million and EGP38.4 million respectively.

Investor-wise, individuals tended to purchase. Institutions moved towards  selling.

Today, 145 companies were traded, out of which 46 rose, 72declined and 27 remained unchanged.
