Dubai – Mubahser: Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) on Monday awarded the last of three contracts totalling $1 billion for Jebel Ali refinery expansion to Overseas AST Company (AST).
The engineering, purchasing, and construction (EPC) contract includes establishing pipelines linking new recovery units in the refinery, storage tanks, and shipment facilities as part of the Free Zone in Jebel Ali, ENOC said in a statement.
The pipeline’s diameter reaches 24 inches, extending over 17 kilometres, to transfer aviation fuel in a special path through the Jebel Ali Free Zone, the firm noted.
ENOC added that the contract also includes setting up an intersection road to allow transport operations without affecting road traffic in the region.
Commercial operation and production are expected to start as a part of the expansion project during the last quarter of 2019, according to the statement.
