ENOC to Use New Technology for DP World Fleet

Decypha: Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) will provide DP World’s fleet of vehicles and stations with radio frequency identification (RFID) technology to monitor the consumption of diesel fuel.

The RFID technology will organize vehicles maintenance, help improve operational efficiency of DP World’s ports, and efficiency of transport fuel products and oils to neighboring towns throughout the region.

The current fuel management system will be replaced completely by the RFID based technology, the first time the RFID technology to be used in commercial industrial fleets.

“Innovation is one of the basic pillars of ENOC’s long-term strategy, and reflects the adoption of new technologies across various business segments over the development which is aligned with Dubai 2021 plan as we move forward to meet Dubai’s growing energy needs,” said His Excellency Saif Hamid El Falasy, ENOC’s CEO.

“We can now use the latest technology to enhance the efficiency of refueling the entire fleet of Dubai World Ports vehicles, through the development of refueling facilities of Dubai Ports World Systems,” added El Falasy.

“By enhancing the fuel operational system at DP World’s terminals, we are now able to use the latest technologies to enhance fuelling efficiency for the entire DP World fleet,” added Al Falasy.

“Innovation drives DP World’s operations both as a global trade enabler and a contributor to the nation’s economy. The RFID technology is central to the extensive automation efforts at Jebel Ali Port, making it one of the most world’s most efficient ports. We welcome this initiative by our strategic partners ENOC to tag all the terminal vehicles with RFID, which will make their movements within the port and free zone areas seamless, delivering cost and time benefits,” he continued.

ENOC is working on the installation of RFID system in the first phase in DP World Port, to be followed by the second and third phase in 2017, with the fourth and final phase in 2018.
