Cairo - Mubasher: The Egyptian minister of transportation said that raising ticket prices for the Egyptian railway will be announced within days, a move that was considered by the ministry for the last three months.
Moving prices aims at balancing the Egyptian National Railway (ENR) budget, as the gap between income and expenditure, which leads to growing debts every year.
The current level of service is not suitable for citizens, and the government seeks developing and improving the sector’s quality, minister Hesham Arafat told Elsherouk newspaper.
ENR’s revenues will grow by EGP 800 million after raising ticket prices, he noted.
