EU OKs $50m loan for Egypt’s irrigation projects

Cairo – Mubasher: The European Union (EU) has agreed to provide Egypt with a $50 million loan to fund its irrigation projects this year, chairman of the Mechanical and Electrical Department at the water resources and irrigation ​ministry Mohammed Abdel Ati said.

Abdel Ati added that the department has also refrained from getting a $100 million loan from the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), Almal News reported.

The department is currently arranging for opening six water pumping stations and agricultural wastewater treatment farms next October with up to EGP 316 million in investments, he indicated.
