Cairo – Mubasher: Eastern Co’s total production of cigarettes rose 3.75% year-on-year to 83 billion cigarettes in fiscal year 2016/2017.
The Egyptian tobacco firm produced 80 billion cigarettes in FY15/16, whereas the approved production plan targeted 84 billion cigarettes, Eastern Company added in a filing to the Egyptian Exchange (EGX).
The EGX-listed company had produced eight main types of foreign cigarettes for three firms at a total value of EGP 2.2 billion.
Eastern Co had previously announced that it achieved profits of EGP 2.9 billion in FY16/17, versus EGP 1.47 billion in FY15/16.
