Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian government has signed a grant agreement at EUR1 million with the French Development Agency in Egypt (AFD), said Minister of International Cooperation Sahar Nasr.
Moreover, the EUR 68 million gas home delivery agreement has been amended as well, the minister added.
The grant will be invested in the fields of vocational training, health, energy, and urban transportation.
Out of the specified amount, EUR 300,000 will be allocated for financing technical and vocational training over which the agency will carry out feasibility studies in cooperation with the Social Fund for Development (SFD).
Moreover, EUR 250,000 will be directed for the health sector to implement reforms of health insurance in cooperation with Egypt’s Ministry of Health and the World Bank (WB).
Both energy and other sectors, including urban transportation, will see investments worth EUR 150.00 and EUR 300.000, respectively.
Regarding amendments to the gas home delivery agreement, the minister stated that 2.4 million houses will get an access to natural gas over four years, including 1.1 million houses in 11 governorates.
“The grant agreement relating to gas delivery to homes has been amended according to directives of President el-Sisi to optimize the local component and accelerate the project’s implementation”, the minister pointed out.
