Egypt, China trade volume reaches $5.2bn in H1

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian minister of trade and industry Tarek Kabil on Thursday said that the volume of trade between Egypt and china reached about $11 billion in 2016 and about $5.2 billion in the first half of 2017.

China is Egypt’s biggest trade partner, as well as Africa’s third biggest trade partner, Kabil added in a statement.

This came along with Egypt’s meeting at the China-Arab State Expo held in Yinchuan in the autonomous region of Ningxiam with the attendance of the Chinese vice minister of trade Qian Keming.

The Egyptian government is encouraging trade and investment cooperation projects between Egypt and China and supporting Chinese investors in the Egyptian market, Kabil stressed.

The minister noted that China ranks the 21st among the foreign countries investing in Egypt with total investments of about $600 million from approximately 1,320 Chinese firms.
