Egypt, Cyprus to sign gas pipeline contract soon – Minister

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt and Cyprus are ready to sign contracts of building natural gas pipelines between the two nations in the coming period, Cypriot foreign minister Nikos Christodoulides said.

The related parties in the two countries are negotiating the terms of trading natural gas output, Cyprus Mail reported, citing Christodoulides as saying.

On Tuesday, 10 April, Christodoulides arrived in Cairo to meet his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry to discuss security challenges facing Cyprus in gas exploration area in the Mediterranean Sea.

In February, petroleum minister Tarek al-Mulla stated that the deal with the European Union to set up a gas pipeline between Egypt and Cyprus could be completed by the mid of 2018.
