Egypt, France ink EUR 1.6bn deals

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt and France have signed around 40 agreements at a combined value of EUR 1.6 billion during the official visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Cairo, the Egyptian investment ministry stated on Tuesday.

Almost 32 agreements were signed during the Egypt-France Business Council’s meeting, including protocols, memoranda of understanding (MoUs), letters of intent (LoIs), and investment contracts, according to a statement.

The deals were signed in the fields of renewable energy, transport, healthcare, social protection, supplying, entrepreneurship, telecommunication, small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), vehicles, and women’s empowerment, the ministry highlighted.

French companies have shown interest to boost their investments in Egypt in the coming period, praising the latest legislative reforms that encourage their expansion.
