Egypt, Italy pen EGP 70.5m solid waste management deal

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt and Italy signed an agreement worth EGP 70.5 million to finance the third phase of the solid waste management project in the Egyptian governorate of Minya.

The deal is part of the Italian-Egyptian debt for development swap programme, Egypt’s minister of investment and international coopeation Sahar Naser said in a statement on Thursday.

The total value of the programme amounts to EUR 300 million, she added.

The new deal will increase the waste management capacity in Minya to handle 500 tonnes per day from the current 300 tonnes per day, Sahar revealed.
