Cairo – Mubasher: Petroleum minister Tarek El-Molla was in talks with CEO of Italy’s Snam Marco Alverà and Italian ambassador to Cairo Giampaolo Cantini over collaboration opportunities within the next period.
The Italian natural gas infrastructure company will play a key role in turning Egypt into a regional hub for gas and oil trading, El-Molla said in a statement.
Snam’s experience, the recent natural gas discoveries in the Mediterranean Sea, the liquefaction plants in Idku and Damietta, and the national gas grid will help to implement the project, the minister added.
The meeting was attended by heads of Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Co (EGAS), and the Gas Market Regulatory Authority.
The minister had announced Egypt’s oil sector’s plan in 2018 which will bolster the country’s economy towards growth and sustainable development.
