Egypt, JICA ink JPY 993m grant deal

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s investment minister Sahar Nasr on Monday has signed an agreement with the Japan International Cooperation Agency’s (JICA) CEO Kazuhiko Koshikawa, in which Egypt will get a JPY 993 million grant from the JICA.

This grant represents the second tranche to supply Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST) with educational and research equipment, Nasr said in a statement.

This project aims at bolstering the performance of E-JUST and the educational content it will provide for the Faculty of Engineering’s students as the Japanese government will supply the university with the necessary equipment, she added.

Moreover, Koshikawa stressed that E-JUST is the first Japanese university to be established outside Japan, pointing out that the university contributes to boosting the level of education, scientific research and innovation, mainly in Egypt and African countries.

Nasr had previously signed an agreement with the Japanese Minister for Foreign Affairs Taro Kono to supply E-JUST with educational and research equipment.
