Egypt, JICA sign consultation agreement for Metro’s 4th line

Cairo - Mubasher: The Egyptian government signed on Sunday a consultation contract with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to supervise the first phase of the fourth line of Cairo Metro, according to a press release.

The fourth line will rise the Egyptian capital’s subway capacity to more than 10 million passengers every day, to represent 50% of total commutes, according to the minister of transportation.

The National Authority for Tunnels began the producers of assigning the construction of the first phase to specialized contractors, the statement indicated.

The new 43 kilometer line will link 6 October City at the southwest of the Egyptian Capital with the First Settlement of New Cairo.
