Egypt, Japan ink $18m financing deal

Cairo – Mubasher: Both the Egyptian and Japanese governments have signed a grant agreement worth $18 million (2 billion Yen), said Minister of International Cooperation Sahar Nasr on Tuesday.

The grant aims at financing the supply of research and educational devices to Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST).

The university was established in 2009 as a research university with the ambition to cultivate an academic environment and to become a benchmark for the Egyptian and African countries in education, according to its official website.

Earlier in 2016, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) agreed to grant Egypt a soft loan for financing the establishment of Borg Al Arab Airport and 20 MW PV Power Plant in Hurghada as well as the increase of three power station’s capacity.
