Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian-Saudi joint committee will start receiving financial offers regarding the tender of power lines and transformers between both countries by the end of October, official sources told Alborsa News.
The committee reviewed three offers presented by Alstom, ABB Group, and Siemens Electrical and Electronics Services, the sources added.
The electricity interconnection project’s cost totals $1.6 billion, and it is set to start trial operation in 2021 with a production capacity of 3,000 megawatts.
The construction of two plants of 500-kilovolt alternating current transformers in Badr city will be managed by the firm who will win the tender, the sources continued.
It is worth mentioning that Egypt and Saudi Arabia signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in June 2013 for electricity interconnection.
