Cairo – Mubasher: The volume of trade between Egypt and Morocco amounted to $706 million in 2016.
This trade volume does not level up to the strong economic ties between both countries, Egypt’s minister of trade and industry Tarek Kabil said in a statement on Sunday.
The Egyptian minister is visiting the Moroccan city Casablanca to head Egypt’s delegation in the World Trade Organization’s (WTO) mini-ministerial meeting held in Marrakech.
This two-day meeting will tackle the future of multilateral trading and the obstacles it faces, Kabil noted.
During the WTO’s meeting, the minister will be meeting with a number of ministers, including Morocco’s minister of industry, trade, and new technologies Moulay Hafid Elalamy and Saudi Arabia’s minister of commerce and investment Majid bin Abdullah Al Qasabi.
Moreover, the Egyptian minister will be meeting with the general manager of administration at Les Eaux Minérales dOulmès Miriem Bensaleh-Chaqroun.
The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) had previously posted that Egypt’s balance of payment (BOP) achieved a surplus of $13.7 in fiscal year 2016/2017, versus a deficit of $2.8 billion in the prior fiscal year.
