Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s minister of electricity has revealed that Egypt was set to sign several contracts pertaining to the electricity linkage project with Saudi Arabia within two months.
The linkage project involves around $1.6 billion in investments, Al Youm7 reported, citing Mohamed Shaker as saying.
He added that the project entails 500 kilovolts (kV) that will be raised to 1,200 KVs afterwards.
Another linkage line will be established, linking Egypt to Sudan at 220,000 volts within four months, the minister noted, indicating that another linkage project is currently in place between Egypt and Jordan at 450 megawatts (MW), and whose capacity was set to be increased soon.
In mid-March, Egypt’s electricity minister had said that the linkage project with Saudi Arabia was scheduled for completion by 2019 at 3,000 MW.
