Egypt, Spain mull cooperation in transportation sector

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s Minister of Transport Hesham Arafat and the Spanish ambassador Ramón Gil-Casares discussed on Sunday means of cooperation between the two countries in the transportation industry.

The two officials considered an offer presented by Spanish firms to establish (Cairo-Luxor-Aswan) and (Luxor-Hurghada) train lines, the ministry said in a statement.

The Egyptian minister further noted that the two lines will provide better services if they will be implemented under Build–operate–transfer (BOT) scheme.

Upon completion, the two lines will meet the rising demand for transportation in Upper Egypt governorates, as well as contribute to boosting tourism.

The two officials also discussed the project of providing six trains to Egyptian National Railways (ENR).
