Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt has signed a cooperation agreement with China, for conducting studies and implementing 18 developmental projects using Chinese funding.
The projects that will be carried out will be in the fields of electricity, transportation, housing, communications and manufacturing, according to the Egyptian Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Some of the initial agreements for these projects were signed during the Chinese president’s last visit to Egypt in January, which included upgrading Egypt’s electricity grid and increasing its efficiency, as well as establishing two new coal-fired power plants in the Hamrawein area.
According to the Egyptian investment minister Dalia Khorshid, Chinese investments in Egypt now rank 23rd, with a total of $546 million.
