Cairo – Mubasher: Trade exchange between Egypt and the African states rose by 23.5% year-on-year in 2018, the Egyptian trade minister said.
Trade between the two parties recorded $4.2 billion last year, versus $3.4 billion in 2017, state-run news agency MENA reported, citing Amr Nassar.
Egypt has been facing strong competitors in the continent such as China, India, and Turkey, Nassar indicated, stressing the government is seeking to boost Egyptian exports to Africa through full-fledged industrial projects.
The most populous Arab country’s intra-trade with African nations has not surpassed 1%, he noted, pointing out that this percentage does not match with the capabilities of the largest industrial country in the continent.
