Cairo – Mubasher: Trade exchange between Egypt and the members of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) surpassed $2 billion in 2017, the Egyptian trade minister said.
Egypt is keen on strengthening trade with the members of COMESA to achieve economic integration, Amr Nassar stressed in a statement.
Nassar also revealed on the sidelines of the Africa 2018 Forum held in Sharm El Sheikh that trade between both parties stood at $2.102 billion last year.
Relations between the North African country and the COMESA members have recently developed, he added.
Egyptian exports to the COMESA members amounted to $1.538 billion, while imports valued at $9.563 billion, he highlighted.
He further noted that the COMESA has 21 members with a total gross domestic product (GDP) of over $600 billion.
