Egypt-COMESA trade exchange hits $3.9bn in 2019

Cairo – Mubasher: Trade exchange between Egypt and the members of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) grew by 19.1% year-on-year (YoY) to $3.9 billion in 2019 from $3.2 billion, the Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry, Nevine Gamea, revealed.

Egypt’s exports to COMESA members rose by 22.5% to $2.8 billion last year from $2.3 billion in 2018, Gamea said in a statement on Sunday.

In her virtual meeting with the Secretary General of COMESA, Chileshe Kapwepwe, Gamea stressed on the importance of signing the free trade agreement between the three African trade blocs.
