Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s Cabinet approved the direct contracting of $575 million between the Egyptian National Railways (ERA) and the US’ General Electric corporation (GE).
This deal will cover supplying 100 new tractors and carry out maintenance of 81 tractors, in addition to supplying long-term spare parts that last for 15 years and providing the required technical support.
Last June, both minister of transport Hisham Arafat and minister of investment and international cooperation Sahar Nasr have discussed the latest signs of progress of GE’s offer to develop the Egyptian railways through supplying 100 to 200 railway carriages with GE Egypt's CEO Ayman Khattab.
