Egypt-Uganda bilateral trade hits $66m - Minister

Cairo – Mubasher: Trade exchange between Egypt and Uganda rose by 27% year-on-year in 2017 to $66 million, Egyptian trade minister said.

Africa’s free trade agreement will come into force next December with the participation of more than 15 African countries, Tarek Kabil told state-run news agency MENA.

Egyptian investments in the Ugandan market stands at $6 million now, Kabil remarked.

He pointed to the importance of encouraging investments between both countries in the field of renewable energy, in addition to facilitating the procedures for registration and access of Egyptian medicines to Uganda.

In August 2017, the minister had said that trade exchange between Egypt and the African countries hit around $4.8 billion in 2016, against $4.5 billion a year earlier.
