Egypt aims to set up EGP 55bn rail projects – Minister

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt plans to implement rail projects at a value of EGP 55 billion during the period from June 2020 to 2022, the transport minister Kamel El-Wazir said.

The transport ministry is currently working on establishing rail projects worth EGP 86 billion as part of its efforts to develop the railway sector, El-Wazir added in a statement on Sunday.

This will bring the total value of rail projects to EGP 141 billion, he noted.

This came during the inauguration of Port Said railway station after being developed at a cost of EGP 83 million.

Moreover, total spending on developing railway stations reached EGP 1.7 billion, the minster added.
