Egypt allocates EGP 10bn in FY19/20 budget to limit COVID-19 impact

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt has made an additional allocation of EGP 10 billion in its budget for fiscal year 2019/2020 to limit the repercussions of the coronavirus (COVID-19), minister of planning Hala El-Saeed said.

The allocation will be used in disbursing the dues for contractors and companies, increasing liquidity, and paying salaries to employees, El-Saaed added in a statement on Monday.

The Ministry of Higher Education, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Cairo Governorate, Ministry of Housing, and Ministry of Transportation have received additional allocations of EGP 4 billion, EGP 1 billion, EGP 1.880 billion, EGP 2.5 billion, EGP 0.12 billion, respectively.
