Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt will pay EGP 13-16 billion for local wheat during this harvest season, the Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, Ali El-Moselhy, said.
The ministry has allocated 450 sites for the storage of local wheat this year, El-Moselhy added in a statement on Sunday.
Earlier, the cabinet approved the local wheat procurement price at EGP 725 per ardeb for a purity rate of 23.5 carats for the 2021 harvest season, up by 25% compared to 2020 season.
The local wheat buying price has been set at EGP 715 per ardeb for 23-carat purity and EGP 705 per ardeb for 22.5-carat purity.
The harvest season in Egypt begins in mid-April.
