Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s government has allocated investments valued at EGP 15.4 billion for local development programme in fiscal year 2019/2020, the country’s minister of planning Hala El-Saeed said in a statement on Thursday.
Cairo topped the country’s governorates in terms of investments with 16.3%, followed by Beheira governorate which made up 6.1%.
The region which includes Cairo, Giza, and Qalyubia accounted for 24% of such investments, while Upper Egypt region made up about 36% or EGP 4.9 billion.
Local development programme includes six plans covering roads and bridges with investments of EGP 5.77 billion, electricity with EGP 1.34 billion, environment improvement with EGP 3.45 billion, security and traffic with EGP 891 million, local units with EGP 2.13 billion, and the neediest villages.
