Egypt allocates EGP 5.8bn for fibre-optic networks in Haya Karima villages

Cairo - Mubasher: The Egyptian Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Hala El-Saeed, has directed the acceleration of steps towards activating the protocol of cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and Telecom Egypt for the establishment of a fibre-optic network in the villages included the Haya Karima (A Decent Life) initiative. 

As part of the first phase of the initiative, a package of health, social, and infrastructure projects will be implemented, including the extension of telecommunications networks to villages affiliated to 52 centres, El-Saeed said in a statement on Monday.  

The estimated cost of building fibre-optic networks in the first phase of Haya Karima project amounts to EGP 5.845 billion. The networks will be implemented by Telecom Egypt over a period of 18 months.
