Egypt allocates EGP 8.5bn to build 13 industrial complexes for SMEs

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian minister of planning and economic development Hala El-Saeed announced that a total of EGP 8.5 billion has been allocated to build 13 industrial complex across different governorates to serve small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

El-Saeed hailed the efforts made by the Egyptian Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA) which provided EGP 23.2 billion worth of funding in the last five years, which in turn led to the creation of more than 1 million jobs, according to a statement on Thursday.

During the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2018/2019, MSMEDA offered loans worth EGP 671 million to about 2,571 small enterprises, leading to creating about 12,800 jobs, she added.

Moreover, the agency also provided nearly 44,800 micro-enterprises with loans valued at EGP 607 million, she pointed out, noting that this created around 64,000 jobs.
