Egypt announces EGP 187.6m immediate funding to fight coronavirus

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Ministry of Finance has provided an initial amount of EGP 187.6 million to support the Ministry of Health as part of an EGP 100 billion fund announced by the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to tackle the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The amount includes EGP 153.5 million for the purchase of medical supplies needed to curb the spread of the virus and EGP 34.1 million worth of bonuses to the staff working at quarantine hospitals, the finance minister Mohamed Maait said in a statement on Sunday.

Maait affirmed that any amounts to be requested by the health ministry or any relevant body to tackle the virus will be provided immediately.
