Egypt announces new Hijri year holiday for private-sector employees

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Minister of Manpower, Mohamed Saafan, announced that next Thursday, 20 August, will be a paid day off for private-sector employees commemorating the new Islamic Hijri year 1442.

Employers can make employees work on this day, but must make a double payment, Saafan added in a statement on Monday.

Earlier, the Prime Minster, Mostafa Madbouly, announced that Thursday is a paid holiday for all employees in ministries, state institutions, and public-sector companies.
