Egypt approves TFTA agreement

Cairo - Mubasher: The Egyptian cabinet approved the presidential decision regarding the tripartite free trade area (TFTA) between the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), the East African Community (EAC), and the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

According to the council of ministers’ statement on Wednesday, the agreement aims at freeing the exchange of goods and services between member countries, developing the infrastructure and industrial development, as well as creating an environment that is supportive to businesses.

The Egyptian minister of trade and industry, Tarek Kabil, said in September that Egyptian annual exports to the members of COMESA exceeded $2 billion.
